Wonder filled moments

From Sudbury, we continued westward on the Trans-Canada stopping at unplanned places along the way. We climbed up Chippewa falls, and stopped at both Silver Falls and High Falls outside of Wawa, Ontario.

We pulled out our winter jackets as the thermometer fell and the gold and green treetops became snow covered.

We arrived at Pukaskwa National Park under dark skies and a cold arctic air, and converted our mobile living area and school room to our cozy bedrooms for the night.

The next morning we arose to slightly warmer temperatures and fresh energy to see what we might explore. A trail took us along the rocky and sandy shores of beautiful Lake Superior. The majestic greens and blues of the water contrasted against the black and silver Basalt rocks and created a breathtaking view of the world's largest fresh-water lake.

We ate sweet wild blueberries along the way and stopped to collect even more for dinner that night.

Victor and I were each served a healthy portion of humble pie as we scrambled to keep up with our kids. So much for our concerns that they might hold us back on the trails.
We went on to hike the Bimose Kinoomagewnan trail, the "Walk of Teachings." As we hiked this path we read about the 7 Grandfather Teachings from Anishnaabe elders; the teachings of Respect, Truth, Wisdom, Honesty, Courage, Love, and Humility. We loved thinking about how these teachings are reflected in our own Christian faith and how Jesus embodied each of these teachings perfectly.

After dinner we grabbed our water colour supplies and rushed to the beach to capture a Lake Superior sunset. As we dipped our brushes in the lake water, we each painted what we saw in front of us. We are no "Group of Seven" by any stretch, but the moment itself was art. It was full of awe and wonder and will forever be painted on the canvas of my soul.

Absolutely stunning! Your paintings are beautiful. What great memories to cherish!
