No camera can capture the magnificence of this place. It took my breath away.

Prior to leaving for the road, our children asked several times if The Rockies would be bigger than "Mount" Kelso (if you're from Halton, you'll know the hill I'm talking about). This picture says it all.

Emma's first view:

"Before the mountains were born, or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting, You are God (Psalm 90:2)

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken, or my covenant of peace be removed says the Lord, who has compassion on you" (Isaiah 54:10)

"I lift up my eyes to the mountains - where does my help come from? My help comes from The Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:1,2)

"For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods, in his hands are the depths of the earth and the mountain peaks belong to Him." (Psalm 95:3&4)

Columbia Icefields Glacier

Our kids with Gabriel, who they affectionately nicknamed "Schmellow" in a moment of hilarity, and it stuck.

Athabasca Falls

Can you believe this incredible day ended with this free outdoor concert that we stumbled upon in the town of Jasper, featuring my all time favourite Canadian artist?

"...How will you ever know

The way that circumstances go. Always gonna hit you by surprise..."

Any guesses?

About Us

Like everyone's story, there's more to ours than what you'll see posted here.  In brief, we are a family who is trying to live simply and by our convictions, and trying to figure out what that looks like.  We make physical and relational messes like everyone else, so even if we don't lay out all our dirty laundry here, please don't think we don't have any.  Everyone does.  We've taken a sabbatical of sorts to re-set our family priorities and ask some hard questions about what we want this life of ours to be about.  We are hoping this year is about asking good questions, and listening with open ears, open eyes, open hearts to the right answers.  We're hoping we have open hands willing to do the right things for our family to make a difference in the world around us.  We love Jesus, and we know if the answers to our soul's hard questions will come from anywhere, it will come from taking time to listen to the Divine whispers within our souls.
